about

In the summer of 2012 I travelled from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Portland, Oregon, carrying only a backpack and a recording device. Along the way I played as many pianos as possible. I walked into hotels, bars, theaters, music schools and churches, I played pianos in parks, museums, public streets and living rooms of people I had never met before.

This is one hour of music recorded in a church in Memphis, Tennessee. The church was connected to the Pilgrim House Hostel, where I was staying. I asked the staff if they knew a piano somewhere for me to play, and they said I could play the grand if I wanted. Big doors opened to a huge, empty church hall, with a grand piano next to the altar. The instrument was in perfect shape and the acoustics amazing.
